Puro Fairtrade Coffee: Saving the Rainforest (and my sanity)

Puro Fairtrade Coffee: Saving the Rainforst (and my sanity)Since having kids, I’ve grown accustomed to broken sleep and early mornings. I’ve learned that kids do not care if you’ve been up most of the night with a teething baby. They need you to serve them breakfast, answer a billion and one questions, help them find their various misplaced items, and do it all without losing your cool.  Needless to say, coffee has become a necessity for me now that I’m a mom. It keeps me sane.

Pouring Puro Coffee

Tony and I both look forward to a good cup of coffee first thing in the morning. We set our coffee-maker on a timer before we go to sleep. In the morning, the sound of the grinder wakes us up, and then the aroma of freshly brewed coffee gets us out of bed. Coffee is literally the reason I get up in the morning.

I’m fairly picky about the coffee I drink. I don’t like sugar and I only take a small amount of milk, because I want the flavour of the coffee to stand out above all else.  My coffee has to have a rich and full-bodied flavour, and I also like it to be fairtrade

Puro coffee not only meets my standards, it exceeds them. It’s more than just great-tasting and Fair Trade; this coffee is saving the rainforest, supporting social initiatives, and sharing ways to recycle coffee grounds.

Here’s a video that explains more about Puro coffee and the amazing things they’re doing.

Puro gave me three varieties of their coffee to try: Fuerte, Noble, and Organic. They are all Fair Trade and shade-grown. Fuerte really has a kick to it! A little goes a long way with this intense blend. Noble is milder than the Fuerte, but still rich in flavor with hints of fruit and hazelnut. The Organic coffee is somewhat similar to the Fuerte with its subtle fruitiness, but with hints of chocolate. Tony told me preferred the taste of our regular coffee, but he’s still been drinking it every day so I don’t think he minds too much.
