Smoothie Fun with Epicure

Smoothie Fun with Epicure: Enter to win Epicure's new protein blend and whole food sprinkles. Epic!

Spring is in the air, and as the weather gets warmer, I start to crave smoothies. A cold smoothie bowl is so refreshing for breakfast on a sunny morning. If we’re on the go with no time to sit down for breakfast, we can sip on smoothies on our way out the door so we can still start the day with healthy food in our tummies. My kids also love making smoothies for a snack when they come home from school. Try smoothie bowls for dessert as a nutritious alternative to ice cream. They’re perfect for any time of day.

Epicure gave us their new Sweet Coconut Protein Blend and Whole Food Sprinkles (Tutti Fruity and Cocoa Crunch flavours) to test out. We had so much fun experimenting with smoothies and smoothie bowl creations. Cole was a little skeptical about the protein blend at first, because he hates coconut. He gave it a try anyway, and fortunately, he liked it more than he thought he would. He couldn’t even taste the coconut. I think all the fruits he added to his smoothie overpowered the faint taste of coconut in the protein powder.

This protein blend is vegan, made with hemp, rice & pea proteins. It’s great for your digestion, since it contains digestive enzymes and heat-stable probiotics, so you can even bake with it. It’s low in sugar, too!

The food sprinkles are a fun and tasty way to add more fibre and nutrition to your food. I especially love the Cocoa Crunch! It was delicious on top of this chocolate smoothie I made. Oh myyyy!

The kids had a blast creating their own smoothie bowls and decorating them with fruits and food sprinkles. They grabbed straws and started sipping the smoothies straight out of the bowls. I told them they’re supposed to use spoons, but I guess straws were just way more fun. Hey, as long as they’re getting all those healthy fruits and protein into their bodies, I don’t care how they do it! When they’d sucked up all of the smoothie, they got spoons to scoop up the fruit.

Here’s a tip if your kids want to bring a smoothie bowl to school for a snack — put them in a thermos to keep them cold. This is what we did with our Pumpkin Cream Cheese Smoothie Bowl at the beginning of the school year.

Here’s the smoothie bowl that Cole designed himself:

And here’s the one I made (I think I actually like his better!):
