Lobster Pot Pies and Lobster Mac & Cheese

Hancock Gourmet Lobster Pot Pies and Mac & Cheese

I’ve always stressed the importance of introducing my kids to as many kinds of food as possible, and yet somehow they’ve made it this far in their lives without ever trying lobster. I knew we had to do something about that. When I heard on Food Bloggers of Canada that Hancock Gourmet Lobster Co. was going to be selecting bloggers to sample their products, I jumped at this great chance to get my children acquainted with lobster.

We were all pretty excited when a package of frozen pot pies and mac & cheese arrived on our doorstep. Cole wanted to test them out right away, but I told him he had to be patient and wait for them to thaw in the fridge first.  When I finally cooked them, I had to take photos of them, so poor Cole had to wait a bit longer before he could eat them. I couldn’t believe how eager he was to try lobster!  I don’t blame him, because these two dishes looked incredible.

I had a hard time restraining myself from digging into them while I was photographing them. Just look at the cute little pastry lobsters on top of the pot pies. I wanted to eat them up right then and there.

…so I did.

I was really impressed by all of the large chunks of lobster inside the pot pies. There was no skimping on the good stuff. I also loved that they came in nice ramekins that you can reuse again and again.

Lobster Mac & Cheese

Next up was the Lobster Mac & Cheese, topped with crispy panko bread crumbs. I had to scoop my fork into this dish as well, so I could stuff my face take photographs.

It was so rich and creamy that it’s no wonder it won in a throwdown with Bobby Flay. That’s right, I got to eat throwdown-winning food!

When I was done my photo shoot, I let the rest of the family have a taste.  Cole had been waiting for this moment his whole life, and let me tell you, he wasn’t disappointed. Since tasting lobster pot pies and lobster mac & cheese, he has declared that lobster is his favourite food.

As you can see, Cole cleared his plate. Tony looks pretty happy about it, too! I don’t usually get a photo of him on the blog, so this is a rare moment. Ayla really liked the mac & cheese – she likes any kind of mac & cheese. Bennett enjoyed them both, but he’s not in this photo because he ate it so fast that he was done before I had a chance to get the camera ready.
